Changing Daily!

Hey everyone-

I finally got a free second to sit down and update (I tried 2 other times today already!). Now that daddy's home, I have free hands.

It is amazing to us how he literally changes daily!! His features are becoming more pronounced and his color is really looking great. So far no jaundice! He's not so little anymore when I compare photos from his first day to today. Mommy's feeding him well :) Right now his eating schedule is every 1 1/2 - 2 hours, which means I'm preoccupied most of the day! Sometimes he waits 3ish hours which is great, especialllyy during the night.

Speaking of the nights...we've kissed our sleep goodbye...for now. Anyone who knows me knows I don't do well with less than 8 hours lol. Well I think I've gotten that in the past 3 nights combined. The great thing is it doesn't phase me! I would truly do anything for our little guy, including not getting sleep until 4 or 5am! :) Brett is so so helpful. He changes him throughout the night and has also helped with feedings since I am pumping. And as always, Brett has a positive attitude. While changing him at 3am I can hear Brett talking to Orien and laughing at his little coos.

It is amazing how our marriage has strengthened just over the past 6 days. I feel we truly are a team now. I cannot express how much love and joy we share together for our new addition. The love Brett and I share for each other is a wonderful, special thing, but the love we share for our son is an entirely different feeling and it's a new level of happiness we've never experienced!

Time is already flying by and we're soaking in every moment with him. Yesterday my mom and I gave him a bath. Actually my mom did it while I took notes and photos lol. He smelled so so good afterward. His blonde hair was shining bright! Today he gave some smiles - although I'm pretty sure he was actually filling up his diaper :) Either way, it looks like a smile and is adorable.

Today was the first day I felt better and less pain. I still need to take things slow to heal 100%. I definitely felt more in control though with less pain, which was nice. Overall, I'm doing great and look forward to gaining back some strength I lost the past few months. I wanted to thank everyone for the continuous prayers. The last stretch of my pregnancy was extremely difficult for me to handle for many reasons. Mentally and physically it challenged me. God showed me though what I am capable of and just how incredibly blessed I am to have EVERY one of you in my life supporting me. Words cannot express my gratitude for every single kind word, prayer, text, email, etc I've received. I know that is the main reason I made it through that difficult time.

Again - THANK YOU to everyone :) I feel so so blessed.

This post is getting long and I'm getting sleepy...so off to bed soon. Enjoy the photos and leave a comment :)

Much love,
Patricia

  1. Patricia,
I'm so glad you are starting to feel better. It takes some time. It warmed my heart when you mentioned how close you and Brett are and how Orien has made it even a tighter bind. Children are amazing and create such special feelings. He looks so healthy and happy. You and Brett are wonderful parents. So many milestones to travel. Looking forward to following along for the ride.
    Love You
